Pete Mackenzie, RCC
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, offering evidence-based therapy for anxiety, relationship issues, personal crises and growth.
Good counselling is both science and art — grounded in proven methods, but brought to life through real connection. I use evidence-based practices to help you explore your feelings, build on your strengths and develop strategies that stick. Sessions are 75 minutes, so we have room to go deep.
My path wasn’t straight. At 19, I knew credentials alone weren’t enough and I had to live it first. I’ve worked up ladders and down holes, in the wilderness and in cubicles. I’ve had bad bosses and dealt with scoundrels. I didn’t always see it at the time, but I connected with people from different walks of life. Those experiences shaped me and my clients tend to see a lot of themselves in me.
I ask honest questions and we don’t shy away from the hard ones. There’s room for humour too — tackling difficult experiences doesn’t mean it’s no fun. I don’t make sessions about me. You’re not paying to hear my story. You’re here to work on yours and that’s where the focus stays.
Sessions are 75 minutes, $225. Many extended health plans cover RCC sessions, so check with your provider.
Good counselling is innovative, but also requires patience, connection and wisdom. I am dedicated to good coffee, honest exploration and providing a workshop for the soul.

It takes courage to be real, not just who others want you to be. Flexibility, toughness and better relationships starting with yourself. See how you move through the world. Tackling difficult past experiences isn’t easy, but there are jokes in there too. Look from an interpersonal and existential perspective, but also day-to-day tools for a better life.
Enhance personal and professional performance while you tackle obstacles to success. Counselling to help you become a better decision-maker and achieve goals. Have fun while you chart a path forward that fits your character. Win on your own terms.
My brand is trust. A client's privacy is top priority. Sessions are held in a private, high-traffic location with good coffee. In crisis or self-exploration, your business is your business. I take my professional obligations seriously and I wholeheartedly believe that your sessions are for you and nobody else. I am accredited with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and I provide a detailed confidentiality agreement with clear limits.
I get knocked down a lot and I enjoy getting back up. I played a lot of sports and now my competitive nature flows into helping others get wins personally and professionally.
I ask tough questions and encourage honest conversation. Deep relationships reveal our true selves and welcome us for it. In counselling we move through things without forcing it.
I encourage my clients to bring their true selves to counselling and I do the same. Life sucks when I don't present authentically, so Pivot Counselling is an authentic expression of who I am and what I've learned. How I show up is an important part of your work.
Certificate in counselling science (2003) and UBC Bachelor’s (2004). I travelled, worked in trades, math tutored and a decade as a career counsellor. Since Master's in 2018, worked exclusively with deep thinking entrepreneurs, tradespeople and high-achievers on day-to-day career/relationship issues while pushing into heavier existential themes. Lots of fun.
